Six Mile Creek - Grapes, Pates, and is that an offer?

Ah, Six Mile Creek Winery: easily elevated to hidden--and nearby--gem after visiting for the Harvest Festival. Maybe if I'd paid more attention to the view from the tasting room I'd have noticed the landscaping and quaint pond (plus fountain!); however, I actually had to walk down the slope and stand beside said pond before thinking to snap a picture:

After that--or maybe before, my memory cannot be trusted--a hay ride took the Social Capers crew around part of the vineyard. This ride was both surprisingly comfortable and informative--not something I'm accustom to in my extensive hay-riding experience.

While reviewing the pictures at my leisure, I've have discovered what I'll tactfully interpret as a gracious offer to make the hay ride just that much more enjoyable! Thank you ma'am, but no, Meghan has that covered.

That's not really a song...

And by the way, Colleen...just what are you doing to that wine barrel...you are bound to attract goatee/baseball cap guys with that photo.

Folks, here are the pictures she should be posting:

See? She looks nice and normal with an affinity for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic delicacies. And yet she posts the humping-the-wine-barrel photo...

Well that's fine, Colleen, but just so you know, this isn't Big Love and we're not looking for a sister-wife, so you'd better class it up.

In all seriousness, I'd like to take some space to thank our Social Caper Keeper. Miss Colleen is a fine young lady who loves wine and getting out and enjoying all sorts of regional activities. Tirelessly, she arranges itineraries including wine tastings, apple festivals, and brunch cruises. Without her, Chris and I might sleep in more, spend more time with our families, keep up with our chores, etc. However, I now love red wine. So that says it all doesn't it? Thanks Colleen!

Eastside Eastside

"Eastside, Eastside" was the song of the day 10/10....

Casual drive up the eastside of Cayuga (route 90) in search of King Ferry and Long Point Wineries.

Began at Baker's Acres in N. Lansing for Applefest! Yummy cider and doughnuts...

On to the lovely town of Auroa, window shopping at Mackenzie Childs and discovering Bet the Farm (and the hottie pouring the wine)

Long Point had spectacluar views and good sandwiches. Even liked the Merlot.

Less than impressed with King Ferry, not a good vibe

Chris ended the day by floating on Cayuga

More on the Fowl...

To add on to the previous post....the main clucker was a pretty big guy - obviously a cousin to the fat clucker in the first picture

Keuka Lake Capers proceed despite fowl opposition

Destination: Keuka Lake's west side wineries
Our first shortcut was nearly thwarted by these vagrant chickens. It's only four chickens, you might say--don't get technical with me about the chicken/rooster difference--but these four cluckers were just the vanguard; what you can't see from this picture (on account of my laziness) is the head-bobbing horde that surrounded the vehicle on all sides!

This was not to be the last avian adversity we had to overcome that day.
